Which mode should I use?
- URL component
- Use for a single query value or path segment.
hello & goodbyebecomeshello%20%26%20goodbye. - Whole URL
- Keep separators such as
://,?, and&. Reserved escapes such as%2Fstay escaped when decoding. - Form value
- Encode one value with the conventions used by form submissions:
hello worldbecomeshello+world.
Text is converted once, exactly as entered. Spaces, line breaks, and Unicode are preserved. Whole URL mode preserves the URL’s structure; it does not validate or open the address.
